9Round Trainer Levels Up to Studio Owner
Like many of our franchise owners, Amber Peterson’s 9Round journey started on the gym floor in 2016—as a trainer at her local studio in Golden Valley, MN. She went on the become the studio manager before officially taking over as the franchise owner in 2023.
Peterson was inspired to become an owner by the opportunity to change people’s lives through 9Round. She loves being able to brighten someone’s day with a great workout that helps them reach their goals and relieve stress.
Always looking to elevate the member experience, Peterson upgraded her studio to 9Round 365—a cutting-edge model that integrates video demo screens and an automated voice timer. The upgrade allows members to enjoy their 9Round workouts with extended hours year-round—even on holidays or without a trainer on-site.
She took on the studio upgrades herself—with the help of her family—handling everything from complex electrical work and installing workout screens to painting the entire space and giving it a fresh new look.
This was one of the toughest challenges she’s faced as a business owner, but she’s so proud of the work she did to give her members an even better experience.
Peterson lives by the quote, “Everything you want is on the other side of fear.” She even had it tattooed just before taking over the gym—a daily reminder to push past fear and never talk herself out of pursuing what she truly wants.
She hopes other women who want to start a business go after their dreams and realize they can do it, even though it may be hard.
